Australia’s Green Energy Drive

Australia is one of the countries that have been campaigning for the use of renewable energy. It has been an essential reason on why the country has low emissions energy mix, reduced greenhouse gas emission rate and ability to meet the Kyoto target.
The Australian government is determined to support green energy by implementing the Renewable Energy Target (RET) scheme. The said program serves as a guarantee to the market for additional energy generation though a tradable renewable energy certificates mechanism called solar credits. Solar credits provide additional support for all the households, businesses and community groups that install small-scale solar PV (photovoltaic), hydro and wind electricity systems.
The Renewable Energy Target scheme works as two separate parts namely: Large-scale Renewable Energy Target (LRET) and Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES). LRET supports the installation of renewable energy projects such as wind farms and commercial solar and geothermal power stations. On the other hand, SRES supports the installation of small renewable energy systems like rooftop solar panels and solar water heaters.
There have been lots of surveys that were done to see if the public supports this cause of the government to use green energy and support projects such as solar panels. The results have been good and suggest that there is a considerable public support for the use of green energy in Australia. In the 1st Annual World Environment review which was responded by 1,007 people in 2007, 82% think that the government should make it easier for people to buy solar panels and 88% think that the government should do more to increase the use of solar power.
Four years after, it is pretty safe to say that the Australian government was able to improve their ways to campaign for the green energy movement. There are also various non-government organizations that support the said cause as well as private companies that offer services to make solar panels more available for ordinary people. One of those companies that provide solar panel installation services in Australia is A1 Battery Pro. The company specializes in house solar systems design and installation. They also offer economical alternatives for the customers by letting them custom design the solar panels depending on their preferences.
Australia should be commended on the ways and effort they take to make a difference in their environment. It is impressive and has been a model for other countries that are planning to do the same
